Cookbooks

I have lots of cookbooks, coz although im not the greatest at cooking i do enjoy trying new things (even though im a fussy eater and some of the things i try out i  wont eat myself).

But

Why, no matter that i follow the recipie to the letter...my creations never looks like the pretty picture..and it just doesnt turn out right

Why, when i did a leg of lamb yesterday and i kept it in the oven for the calculated amount of time..was it not ready when it should of been and everything else was

Why, can i not make cauliflower cheese without it containing huge lumps and it goes all congealed

Why, did my chocolate pots just sink instead of rise

Why, does it always mostly turn into a disaster when we have guests

Why, can i just not have a personal chef? im sure everyone would appreciate it.

Back to Delia's how to cook book one i think!

  1. Oh, I'm all about having a personal chef! If you find one who's willing to work for free, please share them lol.

For me, everything takes longer to cook than the instructions say...I always thought it was an altitude issue, but I have absolutely nothing to base that theory on lol.

    1. I went looking on the net and apparently the altitude does matter.

    2. If i do indeed find one i will ask them if they travel lol

I tend to sit their questioning if i worked it out wrong...but i like the idea of blaming it on altitude though!

  2. My mother had one of those boxes of recipe cards. She would cook a dessert, place it on the table with the card propped alongside and remark that it tastes fine, but should look like the picture. She was usually right. Appearances are deceptive.
We swear by Delia in this house... literally curse.

    1. The thing is i do practice, especially if its cooking for guests, and i have done the lamb many a time before but this time it just didnt go right.

  6. The solution for that is not making anything to fancy or pretty. Obviously a personal chef would be great over here as well.
