Mary Poppins has arrived

So we have this lovely woman coming in 3 times a week to do some general cleaning around the house..and meals ( i think i must have been at a really low point when i agreed to this) and she is lovely and i cant complain about how helpful she is...but

im getting irritable when i watch her do the laundry...i dont fold shirts, i put them straight on to a hanger after ironing,

i polish first, then hoover...she does it the other way around

and she is moving things around in the lounge...putting my book pile onto the bookshelf!...ok im being fussy i know..but the books are on a little table where im working through them and i like them there!

and im trying not to be ungrateful...but when it comes to the home and cleaning im....yeah im anal and ocd..so its difficult.

she makes the most delicious food (i know i shouldnt complain, being cooked for 3 times a week) but im feeling reduntant...

and im not ill, im just having a rough time of it at the moment, but im feeling better, stronger and im ready to reclaim my running of the home..the way i like it.....but everyone else is liking it and i resent them for liking it...and im being petty and childish...telling them when they ask for something to go ask Mary Poppins as she is so bloody brilliant.

  1. As much as I love the idea of having my own personal Marry Poppins, I can see how she might grate on the nerves after a while...

You'll get to kick her out before you know it! But do try to enjoy it just a little bit first...It's not every day one gets their own Marry Poppins to drive them up the wall!

  2. Ah Cleaners... they tidy things away so you can't find them and then clean things you don't bother with and don't bother cleaning things you always do. (I should know, I worked as a cleaner and I was rubbish at it....) We took on a cleaner while I was recovering from surgery and she stayed. She does save time and as she is a carer for her sick partner, so every penny helps her situation. So I'm keeping her employed. That's my excuse. She doesn't come three times a week though.... maybe that's the problem.

    1. Thats the thing, she is so delighted with the extra money what with the country being in the state it is so yeah i feel a tad guilty for moaning.

But its difficult like you said when you do things your own way.

  3. As much as I would like my own Mary Poppins, it would drive me nuts! Enjoy it while it lasts and then enjoy getting rid of her :)

  4. As nice as it would be to have a Mary Poppins to cook and clean I can imagine it would be aggravating to have someone else invade my space and take over my domain so to speak. It's only temporary so try to enjoy being a lady of leisure. Glad to hear you're feeling better.

Hugs and glad your feeling better!

  6. Yeah, who vacuums before they dust? Although if Mary Poppins wanted to vacuum or dust I'd be happy. cooking wouldn't thrill me though, especially if the family raved about it. :( Hugs!

  9. We had a full time nanny for a while and it was great - she was great - but yeah, it was hard having someone in your house all the time. When it was time for her to go, we went back to a once every two week cleaner and full time out of home care. It was the right choice for us. She didn't do anything wrong, it just wasn't right for us.

    1. It is hard, its finding that balance of making things easier but without it being uncomfortable...we are thinking 2 days will be enough.
