Poked and prodded

I didnt intend to stay away from blogging this long.

I have been in hospital, went to the doctors with what i thought was a stomach bug and came away with suspected diabeties, very high blood count meant straight to hospital and well stuck there whilst it was got under control.  Just what is their obsession with bowel movements and pee!  i have been poked and prodded with needles, made to pee in countless bottles, examined in places im not sure i needed examining in..the bossmans contribution being "thats my job"!

Thanks for the messages, and i will get around to replying, hospital didnt have internet access for patients and i only got discharged today.

So well now both me and the bossman are diabetic, his being diagnosed a while back, and well im finding it all a bit overwhelming at the moment...and why is it being told i cant have huge amounts of chocolate now makes me want it more hmm.

  1. Ugh, I think that I should probably quit complaining about my week now...

Glad you finally got to go home. Hope you start feeling better soon.

Odd how the instant we know we can't have something, suddenly it's forefront on our list of wants. Sorry!

  3. Sorry you have been ill and prodded. Hope it is better now. And REALLY sorry about the no chocolates thing.

Ps. there are candy bars for diabetics, with chocolate. Maybe not as good as the real thing, but I eat them and they are not too bad. Glucerma is the brand name.

  6. I'm so sorry you've been ill, but good thing you've been diagnosed so that you can be treated. No chocolate at all? That does suck, I think I would go through withdrawals. Hope you feel better.

Im allowed chocolate but minimal amounts and not often, its going to be an adjustement but i have to play the game for the benefit of my health,

It took a while to get the blood under control and it was tiring more than anything because they were waking me up every 2 hours to test.....and hospitals dont ever seem to be the best places to get sleep lol

  11. ancilla ksst has it right glucerna has chocolate for diabetics and there are a couple of others do as well. Can't remember the names off the top of my head. Be careful how much you eat of the stuff you eat...it has a not serious side effect, that is unwanted. Which my 72y/o mother found out when she ate too much of the stuff.

Its going to be an adjustment, i suspected something was wrong when i had this terrible thirst that i couldnt quench and my vision was blurry...and the tablets are making me feel sick but it should get easier after a few weeks.
