If you should stumble

Occasionally it may well happen that a vanilla person may stumble accross one of the 'kinky' blogs, curiosity may make them stay and read, it might prompt them to ask questions or they might think 'wierdos' and move on.

I read a post today and a comment was made by someone that had stumbled on this particular blog and the comment was offensive, i have had my fair share of 'nasty' comments and i try to ignore them but usually my sarcastic nature gets the better of me.  I wander what makes people make such disparaging comments on dynamics they clearly know nothing about, the kind part of me thinks its just a lack of understanding and its human nature to 'knock' something we fear, something we deem as not being 'normal'....or its just plain ignorance, they want to bitch for the sake of it...i dont know maybe they think they are being clever when really its quite sad.

I do think we all judge to one degree or another, it may not be intentional but it happens, i do think those in alternative relationships are perhaps more 'open' and tolerant of others, perhaps because of the very nature of some of these relationships not being considered the 'norm' by those that stumble accross us.

Anyway it just niggled me when i read this comment, i dont mind questions, opinions but to blatantly bash someone about something they clearly know nothing about just shouldnt be tolerated.

  2. I do think that judging is a human trait that we all have our share of. The question is, what do we do with that judgement?

I find that it's often best to attempt to reach an understanding of whatever I am judging. Failing that--there's no law that says one has to share that judgement and appoint themselves judge and jury! Especially when it manifests in a downright nasty manner...

    1. Yes totally agree it is a human trait to judge, but the key is how we handle and communicate that judgement without it being nasty.

  3. I did not mean to offend you dear, but your blog is unconventional, and if you think I am "ignorant" or uneducated,
then prove me wrong and let me know your situation,as you seem to be so candid about it here on Blogger.

No,I did not read all the entries here, but I do have a right
to my opinions, just like you do.

Again, sorry if my post offended you, enjoy the rest of
    your day.

    1. Yes your are correct my blog is unconventional to those that do not identify with ttwd.

You are most definitly entitled to an opinion but to pass judgement especially derogatory judgement on situations you have no understanding of is ignorant.

My situation is clearly documented in my blog and as for proving you wrong thats not the issue at all, the issue is you making nasty comments about people you know nothing of.

  5. I was kind of excited to get my first "hater" comment on my blog. A milestone or something. I expect future ones will be less thrilling.

  6. I haven't had haters comment yet, though I like to think I'm prepared to handle it when it occurs. I also try very hard not to judge. I prefer to learn from people who might be different from me. I do realize that not everyone is like me. Acceptance isn't for everyone I guess. That makes me sad. What ever happened to "live and let live"?

  7. People like to think they know what is right and what is wrong; and it's generally considered OK to disparage what is "wrong." Judging is usually considered a God-given right, and even sometimes mandatory.

As well as this, disparaging remarks directed towards an activity often indicate envy of the activity: because their standards will not allow them to indulge, they have to denigrate it, even though they would really like to copy it.

  8. Sounds like she might just be jealous of you and the only way she know how to express it is to lash out. Poor girl.

    1. Yep poor girl indeed. I get so annoyed at rude comments suggesting people need 'help' when they know nothing of what they speak of.

  9. Other commentors have pretty much covered it all. Everyone does judge but how a person deals with it is key. Those that choose to make nasty or offensive comments are usually those that are mesmerized or curious about it and afraid of those feelings.

    1. Agreed, its easier i think to lash out at something we dont understand rather than be willing to learn more or allow ourselves to be open to the idea that we are all different in our wants and needs.
